Who are we?
The Full Story
Hi, we're Tim and Sandy... and the little guy is Pablo. 👋🐶
Welcome to our little corner of the internet.
A few years ago we were living what most people would call a pretty normal life. Sandy worked in the financial industry, Tim worked on the railway, and like so many people, we spent our days talking about all the places we'd love to see "one day". The Big Lap of Australia was always on that list... along with an idea that still hasn't gone away of one day living on a narrowboat in the UK.
Then one day, while scrolling Facebook Marketplace, we came across a Mercedes Sprinter van.
Sometimes the biggest adventures begin with the smallest decisions.
We bought the van, affectionately named him Vinnie after Vincent van Gogh, and slowly transformed him into the cosy little home you see today. We didn't build him from scratch. Instead, we rebuilt him piece by piece over the years, which, in hindsight, was probably even harder! Every project brought us one step closer to creating a space that feels less like a campervan and more like a tiny cottage on wheels. That's exactly what we wanted. Somewhere that feels like home, no matter where we wake up.
For the past three years we've been travelling Australia full-time, sharing our adventures as we go. It's been everything we hoped it would be... and so much more.
Of course, vanlife isn't always mountain views and beach sunsets. There have been breakdowns, expensive repairs, plans that have changed overnight, and times when Tim has headed away for work while Sandy has continued travelling solo. Those moments can be tough, but they've also taught us resilience, patience, and how little we really need to be happy.
If there's one place that's completely stolen our hearts, it's Tasmania. Spending time here is something we'll never forget. Snow-covered mountains, crisp mornings, quiet roads, and even snow on Christmas Day. It has felt like another world, and it's become one of our favourite places in Australia.
Then there's Pablo, our seven-year-old Chihuahua and the smallest member of the team. He's been with Sandy since he was just nine weeks old and has adapted to vanlife better than we ever imagined. He's happiest curled up in the van, watching the world go by through the window, although he'd much prefer you kept the big dogs and cats at a safe distance! If you ever spot his little tongue hanging out in our videos, that's completely normal. It's become one of his trademarks.
What you'll find on our channel is the real version of vanlife. We love sharing incredible destinations, but we also share the muddy hikes, mechanical problems, unexpected costs, rainy days, and the moments when things don't quite go to plan. We don't think adventure has to be perfect to be worth having.
More than anything, we hope our videos encourage people to get outside, explore Australia, and realise there's no single blueprint for a happy life. Whether that's travelling full-time, heading away for a weekend, or simply visiting somewhere new close to home, if we've inspired you to take that first step, then we've done what we set out to do.
One of the biggest surprises along the way has been the community that's grown around this adventure. We've met so many incredible people on the road, formed friendships we never expected, and experienced kindness from complete strangers when we've needed it most. Those connections have become just as important as the places we've visited.
We're still making our way around Australia, with Western Australia, the Northern Territory and South Australia all waiting for us. As for what comes after the Big Lap? Maybe a cosy cabin somewhere snowy... maybe that narrowboat in the UK we've always dreamed about... or maybe another adventure we haven't even thought of yet.
For now, though, you'll find us chasing sunrises, hunting down beautiful campsites, drinking far too much coffee, and making memories in Vinnie.
We're so glad you're here, and we hope you'll come along for the ride.
